What I love to photograph the most are the weddings. There is something magical about them. The expressions on the faces of the grooms, the emotions displayed by the members of the family and close friends, and the joy of the guests are things very hard to explain in words. This is why I use the power of my camera, working hard every time to capture all of these in candid images. So, while the landscape in Santorini is breathtaking, I will always focus on the people I photograph and their feelings, as they are the centrepieces of my photos.
When Jennifer and Ian contacted me from Florida, USA, telling me that they need a professional photographer for their wedding in Santorini, I knew what I have to do. Simply invest all my efforts and skills to give them the best photos a newlywed couple deserves. I have to admit that it was a real pleasure to work with this couple. Both Jennifer and Ian were very kind and our communication was amazing. I enjoyed every moment of their wedding and, judging by the way they looked, I am sure that they had memorable times as well.
The bride got ready for the moment at the Rocabella Hotel, in the company of her mother, bridesmaids, and family. The location was the ideal setting for me, as I could shoot spectacular photos from almost every corner, due to the beautiful architecture of the hotel. The preparation of the groom took place at the Chromata Hotel, where he was assisted by his trustworthy best men. The guys also had the chance to grab a couple of drinks and unwind before heading to the ceremony.
As the tradition requires, the groom is supposed to wait for the bride at the location where the wedding ceremony is going to take place. Thus, Ian arrived first at Le Ciel and waited for his bride. After not very long, the bride also arrived at the location, accompanied by her bridesmaids. The ceremony started and you could clearly see the emotions of grooms and everyone involved. Once the ceremony ended, I took photos not only of the grooms but also of the entire family and guests. Of course, the grooms deserved a photo session of their own, so we went to the Prophet Elias Chapel. This is the highest point in the Imerovigli village. Thus, the photos came out spectacular, with the wide sea in the background.
Even if the photo session was magical, we had to wrap it up eventually and return to Le Ciel, where the reception of the wedding took place. The newlywed couple enjoyed a beautiful entrance, in the warm applause of their guests. It surely was a great party, with delicious dishes, good music, and, of course, a lot of dance. It wasn’t hard at all to see that everybody was having so much fun. As for me, I am more than grateful that I was chosen as a photographer to take their wedding photos.
